Michal Paľko is a Slovak composer and player of the cimbalom and woodwinds.
Michal Paľko studied cimbalom at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and composition at the Music Academy in Krakow. He now works as a music teacher in the Spis region in northern Slovakia.
He is founder and leader of the Mojse Band, which aims to interpret Jewish music of the Slovak regions. He has served as a cantor in the reformed Jewish community of Beit Krakow and as music director of the Midrash Theatre in Krakow.
Besides numerous solo projects, Michal Paľko has collaborated with the Slovak Philharmonic, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín, the Krakow Philharmonic, the Melos Ethos Ensemble, the Ensemble Modern, AUKSO and others. He also dedicates himself to the interpretation of baroque music and collaborates closely with the Solamente Naturali baroque ensemble and the Holland Baroque Society.
