Maxime Bender: saxophone
Simon Seidl: piano
Olivier Lutz: doublebass
Silvio Morger: drums
Maxime Bender was born in Luxembourg. Music has always been a big part of his life, as he started playing the saxophone at age 6 and never stopped. He was influenced by all kinds of musical genres throughout his life, from Rock and Pop to Classical and Jazz. He went on to study music in the conservatory of Luxembourg and completed his higher education in Strasbourg, Brussels and Cologne. He is now dedicated to his music as a professional musician, leader of several projects and as a saxophone teacher.
Maxime has enjoyed quite a career with different bands which allow him to showcase his different facets as a composer and a leader. His quartet partners Silvio, Oliver and Simon he met while he studied in Cologne, a city he discovered as one of the greatest Jazz scenes in Germany and Europe and an extremely lively scene. The three musicians are very active in the German Jazz scene. The four of them did not miss any opportunity to play together, and forming a quartet was a natural consequence. Apart from a spontaneous and free music, a profound friendship arose between them.
“All three of them lead me to keep my ears open and be ready for taking new decisions and directions. They have the ability to reinvent the repertoire at every concert. They always take me to a new musical universe in which we can always offer something new”,
Maxime describes the quartet’s relationship.
