Noise Watchers Unlimited has a mission: to perform contemporary music in general and works by Luxembourgish composers in particular, both at home and abroad. The ensemble does not have permanent musicians, but engages performers depending on the requirements of its forthcoming projects. Its appearances have been greeted with enthusiasm by the press, and its annual contribution to the Rainy Days festival at the Philharmonie Luxembourg is always anticipated with excitement.
The ensemble usually appears in small group settings, from soloist to sextet; concerts with a conductor tend to be a rarity. Over the last ten years, Noise Watchers Unlimited has presented many of the most important works created during the second half of the 20th century to its audiences. However, its activities involve far more than just concerts, but range from conferences that feature live excerpts from the works under discussion to instrumental pieces with prerecorded electronic elements. In its larger configurations, the ensemble has worked with the conductors Jean Halsdorf, Jonathan Kaell and Luca Francesconi.
